we are a founder/hacker collective, comprising a group of nine friends (bobs), aged between 19 and 22 years, and we are building AI/deep-tech startups in Finland. Most of us are IEM/IT/robotics students(or dropouts), but there is also one psychology student (ask him REM sleep advice after 8 Red Bulls)
we believe that, over the next five to ten years, decacorns and hectocorns will emerge from Finland and Europe. These companies will not be built on hype (pöhinä), but rather on fucking big ambition, cases of Red Bull, state-of-the-art machine learning and deep-tech. We are tired of seeing slop AI apps that keep GitHub's servers warm. We want to develop technology that bends reality. Bobs collective is going to lead this shi(f)t.
we build our own startups every day in the same space. We support, share ideas/materials, and help each other. For example, when a new version of some LLM is released, bob has already benchmarked it before you even hear about it. We attend various hackathons, speaker events, and other ecosystem events with this group. We also organize mini hackathons for ourselves; read more about them in the next section.
quarterly we organize a 24-hour mini hackathon for ourselves. The agenda is to first brainstorm a cool project for an hour and then execute it within 24 hours. At the Q4 ’25 hackathon, we built an interior design app that indexed furniture from Finnish retailers and used AI to place selected items into room images.
this isn't some fucking sunday club. Building a startup is a constant state of uncertainty and misery. If you can't handle feeling like shit, you're not cut out to be a founder. In war, there's no fucking time to wait for the sun to shine. For these reasons, bobs collective goes running and ice swimming as a group. I can say that the French foreign league test is a sausage-grilling camp after our running session. If you give up once, you'll always give up.
